It pays to be prepared if you’re camping this Easter – and there’s a bonus offer!

With thousands of South Australians preparing to take to the roads and enjoy the warm weather on a camping holiday this Easter long weekend, St John Ambulance SA is encouraging holiday makers to focus on safety and make sure a first aid kit is on their checklist, and packed in their car, caravan and boat.

St John Ambulance SA Acting General Manager (Commercial), Brigid Koenig says having a well stocked first aid kit on hand really can save lives.

“When you’re enjoying rural or remote regional Australia, response times for emergency services can be outside the critical few minutes in which a life can be saved,” she says.

“From a grazed knee to a snake bite, having a first aid kit on hand cannot be underestimated. Being first aid prepared and having the right equipment in any case of an emergency could make the critical difference in helping save someone’s life before emergency services arrive,” adds Ms Koenig.

According to Caravan and Camping Industries Association SA Chief Executive Officer, David Duncan, the Easter long weekend provides a great opportunity to get outdoors, but he reiterates that being well equipped with a first aid kit is vital.

“Easter is traditionally a very busy time for the caravan and camping fraternity and it’s paramount that the importance of safety is acknowledged by anyone participating in a caravanning, camping or boating holiday.

“First aid awareness backed-up with appropriate safety kits for the car and camp site are essential,” he says.

To encourage people to invest in a first aid kit, St John is offering 20% off the Camping Kit, Boating Kit, Pet Kit and Car Kit until 5pm on Friday 10 April, when you call 1300 ST JOHN (1300 78 5646) and quote ‘Easter’.
