Noble St John

Noble St John

09 January 2015

AS a key support agency, St John Ambulance volunteers have had a continuous presence at each of the CFS staging points across the bushfire sites since the fires began at Sampson Flat last week and earlier at Tantanoola.

We estimate that our volunteers have already committed over 4500 hours in providing first aid and health support services at these sites.

Members have assessed and treated multiple patients for minor trauma and medical issues, and have been continually called upon to provide eye wash and other health care for fire fighters returning from the fire grounds.

In the early stages, St. John was also in attendance at the Golden Grove evacuation centre supporting community members.

Our command, communication and logistical support services have been operating for 24 hours each day throughout the fire, supporting our members in the field.

Our presence will continue until we are advised by the CFS that our services can stand down - at least until the next call comes for our attendance again.

St. John SA is extremely proud of the dedication, commitment and professional team approach of our members in working alongside of all of the other emergency services and support agencies, in supporting our State in these difficult times.
