St John meeting with State Government

St John meeting with State Government

09 October 2012

St John Ambulance SA CEO Sharyn Mitten will meet with the Health Minister John Hill at the SA Health Building in Hindmarsh Square at 3.30pm this afternoon.

Ms Mitten is returning from Port Pirie and Port Augusta to attend the meeting, after she was contacted by the Minister’s office this morning.

"We’re delighted to discuss our situation in the hope of convincing the Government that their decision should be reviewed given the devastating impact we believe it will have on our ability to offer our services, particularly during activities such as Schoolies Week," Ms Mitten said.

It comes after the State Government announced plans to slash the volunteer organisation’s budget by a staggering 50 per cent from $200,000 to $100,000. Indications have also been made that St John Ambulance SA will also have to mount a compelling argument to warrant it deserved the final $40,000 of that reduced allocation.
