MAKE FIRST AID SECOND NATURE

This course provides knowledge and skill necessary to provide first aid management to an injured or ill athlete until medical aid arrives in a sporting environment.

A statement of attainment for the following unit will be issued on successful completion of the course - SISSSPT302A Provide initial management of a sports injury. Certificate Validity three (3) years however, the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) www.resus.org.au recommends the CPR competency be re-certified annually.

• DRSABCD action plan
• Legal issues, infection control
• Managing the unconscious, breathing casualty
• Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
• Defibrillation demonstration
• Roles & responsibilities of a Sports First Aider
• Assessment of sports injuries
• Strains, sprains, dislocation and fractures
• Head, neck and spinal injuries – including collars
• Chest and abdominal injuries
• Facial and eye injuries
• Sports specific injuries
• Management of medical emergencies including
  chest pain, asthma, anaphylaxis
• Shock

We can also run on-site/in-house training at your venue for groups of up to 12 per St John trainer. You simply need a room large enough to not only seat everyone but also to allow them to lie on the floor and be rolled around without bumping into furniture or each other.
